Neo OSS

When I was doing research, Columbia mentor was like everything is going to open source now. I didn’t really understand why. I didn’t really get why people are not building a moat around their software. But now I sorta get it. People get engaged, creates a community, and that is longer-lasting and more impactful than being Oracle and releasing software from time to time. You always stay relevant. And in a way, its more democratized, the community sort of chooses where to go and what is needed.

Chinese Cars

Crazy, I’ve been looking at car reviews mostly about chinese-made cars. They are such good bang for the buck items and they look amazing and seem to perform amazingly too. It’s crazy to say but I actually want a 吉利星越L here in the states if possible because it just seems like so much better than other vehicles in its segment and for a v cheap price! Price ¥137,200 - ¥185,200 or $ 19k - 25.

Soccer Justice

Watching soccer with VAR makes me think of how justice must be served and served swiftly. Whenever the ref makes a bad call or misses a call or waits for a call, it is obvious that the players escalate their anger and ferocity.

Tesla Tools

My internship at Tesla on the Engineering Tools team was a very interesting experience. My team deals with a lot of sensitive information since we support many infrastructure tools. We do EVERYTHING in house to be secure. All apps are in-house, all infrastruture is in-house, at this point Tesla can be a infrastructure company (jk we’re so understaffed). I use to think “why reinvent the wheel – every wheel – for everything across Tesla?
